AOC's claiming she "voiced opposition" to the Hunts Point food bank upgrades in her own Bronx district, but that's a total fabrication—there's zero evidence of her ever opposing it. In fact, she secured nearly $3 million for it in FY2026 earmarks (on top of $9 million prior with senators), then bragged about it in a February 12 press release on her House site, saying she was "proud" to deliver $14.2 million for NY-14 projects including the food bank's 90,000-square-foot floor resurfacing and ventilation upgrades. She even touted these earmarks at a February 5 Queens town hall, boasting they were "included in that bundling—even though I voted [no]" on the $1.2 trillion spending bill. This is classic deflection: she's replying to hypocrisy callouts by pretending critics mixed up districts (Hunts Point is squarely in her NY-14; Bally's casino is in adjacent NY-15), and she did oppose Bally's—that part's true. But she weaponizes that one real stance to falsely lump in Hunts Point as "both," gaslighting everyone into thinking she's some consistent NIMBY. Nope. She chased the funding, celebrated it publicly post-vote, and now invents opposition to dodge accountability for stuffing her district's pork into a bill she slammed over DHS funding. Straight manipulation to make you think she's against wasteful projects when she actively pushed this one.
