The service creates a direct revenue stream from the timing of presidential statements on a platform controlled by the president’s majority-owned company. Federal law permits the arrangement, yet it departs from the divestiture practice followed by prior presidents. Market participants must now decide whether paying for earlier access alters competitive balance or simply formalizes an existing information advantage.

What outlets missed

The discrepancy between the service names Truth API and Truth PSI across contemporaneous releases was not examined or reconciled. No outlet obtained or reported the actual contract terms, technical specifications, or pricing tiers that institutional clients have already signed. Historical trading-volume data tied directly to specific Truth Social posts on tariffs or foreign policy was referenced only anecdotally rather than quantified. The company’s statement that it will block existing scraping methods was presented without detail on enforcement mechanisms or current data-use agreements.

Traders who rely on rapid reactions to presidential statements now face a paid tier for earlier delivery of those statements. Trump Media & Technology Group announced a subscription service that will transmit posts from its highest-follower accounts to institutional clients in milliseconds beginning 1 August.

The company described the offering, referred to as Truth API in one announcement and Truth PSI in another, as a 24-hour feed of content from accounts such as the president’s, which holds 12.9 million followers. Interim chief executive Kevin McGurn stated that markets already move on Truth Social posts and that the service would generate ongoing revenue for a firm that remains unprofitable. The company said it has already signed customers and will end unauthorized data scraping once the paid feed launches.

Donald Trump owns an indirect stake of roughly 53 percent in Trump Media through a trust established before he took office. Any revenue from the service therefore flows in part to the president. Washington University law professor Kathleen Clark said the arrangement sells expedited access to information about presidential actions. Clark noted that federal conflict-of-interest statutes exempt the president and vice president, though every prior president since the statutes were enacted has voluntarily divested or placed holdings in blind trusts.

Trump Media shares have fallen more than 70 percent since Trump took office, closing most recently at $9.63 after trading near $40 beforehand. The company has pursued additional lines of business, including cryptocurrency products that generated more than $1 billion in revenue for Trump last year according to his financial disclosure. McGurn replaced former chief executive Devin Nunes in an effort to improve performance.

Other platforms already sell similar data feeds. The company did not disclose pricing or confirm whether the president’s own posts will be included in the paid service. The White House declined to comment.
