The America First Firebrand

Opinionated. Never fabricated.
NATO's Betrayal as Oil Hits $100: America First Betrayed
You could see this disaster coming from a mile away. That much-hyped two-week ceasefire between us and Iran didn't even last a full day before it started unraveling. Israeli strikes pounding Lebanon, killing hundreds, Hezbollah rockets flying again, and Tehran squeezing the Strait of Hormuz like a vice. Oil prices shot right back toward a hundred dollars a barrel. American families are staring at four-dollar gas again while the so-called experts in Washington act shocked.
This is what happens when we let ourselves get dragged into everyone else's fights. The Iran mess was never about some vital American interest. It was the usual gang of neocons, defense contractors, and foreign lobbies pushing us to be the world's muscle. Now the Hormuz traffic is stalled, shipping's a ghost town, and the EIA admits fuel prices will stay punishing into 2027. Regular people pay the price every time they fill up their truck or heat their home. The elites? They're fine. Their portfolios are diversified.
President Trump is exactly right to blast NATO over this. He met with that Secretary General Rutte and laid it out: you people hit your silly two-percent target for the first time in forever, but when America needs real support against Iran choking global energy, where were you? A few vague logistical nods from some allies while the rest sat on their hands. Trump hinting at punishments, troop reallocations, even questioning the whole alliance isn't bluster. It's overdue realism. NATO was built to stop Soviet tanks rolling into Europe, not to rubber-stamp our Middle East adventures. If Europeans won't back us when it matters, why are we still subsidizing their defense while they lecture us on climate and democracy?
The whole thing exposes the fraud at the heart of our foreign policy. The ceasefire was never a real agreement. Tehran and Washington couldn't even agree on whether it covered Israel's campaign against Hezbollah. Iran wants tolls on Hormuz and enrichment rights. We say no. Israel keeps striking anyway. Hundreds dead in Lebanon, and suddenly the two-week pause looks like two weeks of foreplay before round two. This isn't strategy. It's chaos that always seems to enrich the same people while the American middle class gets the bill.
And what do the Democrats do? They seize on the mess to push the 25th Amendment, as if removing Trump will magically fix Iran's nuclear program or open the oil lanes. More than seventy of them signing letters, governors chiming in, all because a president finally demands real burden-sharing instead of blank-check globalism. Their obsession with war powers votes and removal fantasies isn't about the Constitution. It's about stopping any leader who puts our country first. Meanwhile, Republicans blocking their procedural stunts is treated like some assault on democracy. Spare me.
This is why the domestic side matters so much. While Washington chases forever wars, Trump is actually delivering on the promises that got him elected. Firing over a hundred immigration judges to clear the backlog and speed deportations isn't cruelty. It's basic sanity. We've got millions of cases piled up, asylum grants slashed to twenty percent, and actual removals happening for people who ignored orders years ago. The left screams about families, but the real scandal was the open border that let in millions while veterans slept on streets. Cutting SNAP rolls by millions through work requirements and cracking down on that ten-billion-dollar error rate is the same principle: stop subsidizing dependency when Americans are struggling with these gas prices.
The economy slowing to half a percent growth in the fourth quarter, incomes dipping, yet people still spending? That's resilience, but it won't last if energy costs keep exploding because we can't stay out of Middle East quicksand. The lesson is obvious. America First isn't isolationism. It's refusing to be the sucker at the table anymore. Let NATO defend itself. Let Israel and its neighbors sort their ancient grudges without our pilots and our treasure. Secure the border, enforce our laws, bring costs down for citizens first.
The Pakistan talks this weekend will probably produce more vague promises that collapse by next week. Oil will stay high. The same pundits who cheered every escalation will blame Trump for not being aggressive enough. But the American people see it clearly now. Our ruling class loves forever wars because they never bear the cost. We do. Time to stop playing their game.
